Epiphyllum Ackermannii 'Orchid Cactus'

  • Product Info

Epiphyllum Ackermannii, also known as the orchid cactus, is a striking trailing houseplant loved for its flat, arching stems and vibrant red blooms. With its exotic, tropical look and elegant growth habit, it makes a beautiful addition to shelves or hanging planters, bringing a bold yet graceful touch to any indoor space.

  • Care guide:

    Light:
Epiphyllum Ackermannii prefers bright, indirect light and should be kept out of strong midday sun to prevent scorching. A spot near an east or west-facing window works well, with some gentle morning or late afternoon light.

    Watering:
Water when the top layer of soil feels dry. In warmer months, this is usually every 7–10 days, reducing to every 2–3 weeks in cooler months. Avoid overwatering, as sitting in wet soil can cause root rot.

    Soil:
Use a well-draining, airy mix to keep roots healthy. A blend of cactus compost with added perlite or orchid bark works well to improve drainage and prevent waterlogging.

    Feeding:
Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 2–4 weeks during spring and summer. Stop feeding during autumn and winter when growth slows.

  • Nursery Pot Size:

    14cm Hanging Pot
