Light
Bright, indirect light is ideal for this cactus. It prefers locations where it receives a few hours of morning sun or bright indoor lighting.
- Direct sunlight can scorch its delicate stems, so avoid placing it in direct afternoon sun.
Watering
- Like most cacti, it’s important to avoid overwatering. Water it once the top few inches of soil are dry to the touch.
- During the growing season (spring and summer), water more frequently, but in the fall and winter, reduce watering as the plant goes dormant.
- Ensure the pot has good drainage to prevent root rot, as standing water can quickly harm the plant.
Fertilizing
- Fertilize during the growing season (spring to summer) with a balanced, diluted cactus fertilizer or a low-nitrogen, high-phosphorus fertilizer. This promotes blooming and healthy growth.
- Avoid fertilizing during the winter months when the plant is dormant.
