Fockea edulis

  • Product Info

Fockea edulis is a unique caudiciform succulent native to Southern Africa, admired for its large, swollen base (caudex) that stores water and gives the plant its distinctive sculptural appearance. From this thick base, slender climbing vines grow, creating a beautiful contrast between the rugged caudex and delicate foliage.

This unusual plant is highly valued by collectors for its striking form and character. As it matures, the caudex becomes more textured and impressive, making Fockea edulis a fascinating centerpiece for succulent and caudex plant collections.

  • Care guide:

    Light
Fockea edulis prefers bright light. It grows best in a sunny spot with plenty of indirect light and can tolerate some direct sun. Gradually acclimate the plant to strong sunlight to avoid leaf burn.

    Watering
Water moderately during the active growing season, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. In winter, when growth slows down, reduce watering significantly. The caudex stores water, so the plant is quite drought tolerant.

    Repotting
Repot every 2–3 years or when the plant outgrows its container. Use a well-draining cactus or succulent soil mix. Choose a pot with drainage holes to prevent excess moisture around the roots.
