Light:
Philodendron melanochrysum prefers bright, indirect light. It should be kept out of direct sunlight, which can damage its delicate, velvety leaves. Low light can lead to slower growth and smaller leaves.
Watering:
Allow the top few centimeters of soil to dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly, letting excess water drain away completely. Reduce watering during the cooler months and avoid letting the soil stay soggy to prevent root rot. This plant enjoys high humidity—using a pebble tray or humidifier is recommended to keep the air moist and support healthy foliage.
Soil and repotting:
Use a rich, well-draining potting mix with added materials like bark, perlite, or coco coir to improve aeration. Repot every 1–2 years or when the plant becomes root-bound, ideally in spring. A support pole will help the plant climb and develop larger leaves.
