Light
Licuala palms prefer bright, indirect light but can tolerate partial shade. Avoid direct sunlight, especially in hot climates, as it can scorch the delicate, fan-shaped leaves. Indoors, place the plant near an east- or north-facing window for the best results.
Water
Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water when the top inch of soil begins to dry out. In drier indoor environments, increase humidity by misting regularly or placing the pot on a pebble tray with water. Reduce watering slightly during the winter months.
Repotting
Repot every 2–3 years or when the plant becomes root-bound. Use a pot one size larger with good drainage and a rich, well-aerated potting mix. Handle the roots gently, as Licuala palms are sensitive to transplant shock.
Tips
Avoid cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C. Wipe the leaves occasionally to remove dust and check for pests like spider mites or scale. Feed with fertilizer during the growing season.
