Areca Palm

Dypsis lutescens

  • Product Info

The stunning Areca Palm is sure to bring a tropical flourish of green to your home with its broad, vibrant fronds. Best kept in bright indirect light for strong and vigorous growth, the Areca Palm can also manage with a somewhat shadier spot. Keep it moist throughout the growing season, allowing it to dry out for longer in the colder months. Areca palms can only tolerate full sun without scorching if situated far from the window source.

  • Care guide:

    Light:
Areca palms prefer bright, indirect sunlight but can tolerate moderate shade. Avoid placing them in direct sunlight, as it can scorch their delicate leaves. Consistent, indirect light will keep your areca palm lush and vibrant.

    Watering:
Keep the soil slightly moist during the warmer months; water the plant when the top inch of soil feels dry. If the plant is thirsty, you’ll notice the leaves start to soften and droop slightly. In colder months, reduce watering but ensure the soil doesn’t dry out completely for too long, as areca palms prefer consistent moisture.

    Soil:
Use a well-draining potting mix to prevent waterlogging. A standard indoor plant soil mixed with perlite or orchid bark works well, as this combination promotes drainage and aeration, keeping the roots healthy.

    Fertilizing:
Feed the areca palm with a balanced liquid fertilizer once a month during spring and summer to encourage healthy growth. In fall and winter, stop fertilizing, as the plant’s growth naturally slows down.

    Repotting:
Repot every 2-3 years or when the plant becomes root-bound, moving it to a pot that’s 1-2 inches larger in diameter. Refresh the soil with new potting mix to replenish nutrients, which supports ongoing healthy growth.

  • Nursery Pot Size:

    17cm (110cm tall)
